Hello!
Thank you for subscribing to Don’t Touch The Art. Some of you may know me from Harriet, a Substack I was part of over the past year.
My name is Grace Van Vranken and amongst many other things I am a writer. My path has always been untraditional. I graduated from NYU with a big fancy degree in screenwriting, only to realize I had no idea what I actually wanted to write about. I started working in restaurants because it felt like the best way to get a front row seat to the most absurd characters New York City had to offer. To this day it’s the best decision I ever made, opening doors I could have never imagined possible and leaving me with an unwavering faith to always trust my gut.
So what is Don’t Touch The Art going to be about? In truth, whatever I want. I am obsessed with living in New York City, people who are unapologetically themselves, fabulous outfits, hot takes and any topic of conversation that forces me get out of my own head and not take life too seriously. As a true believer in divine timing, somehow The Powers That Be gave me the great responsibility of living in a city and era that normalizes $11 pistachio milk lattes, meeting the love of your life on the internet, Keith McNally’s Instagram and The Row Jelly Flats. I feel I have no choice but to document it all?
It is my pleasure to have you along on this next chapter. I can only hope that reading this newsletter gives you as much joy as I get writing it. Buckle up!
Xx Grace
