OOO- Don't Text Or Call
Tonight Is The Night
6:38PM: You’re standing in a Siena Marble shower admiring how tan you are while Peggy Gou blasts in the background. So far your day has consisted of a good book, 2.5 Hugo Spritzes, a few dips in the sea and you’ve completely forgotten the password to your work email, let alone what you do for a living. Once you’re out of the shower you moisturize your entire body, pour yourself a glass of champagne and spend the next 30 minutes luxuriously scrolling through Instagram while laying in your hotel bathrobe. You are on vacation.
Tonight is that night of the trip. The occasion that’s flashed through your mind everyday over the past month when you weren’t sure if you were sweating or crying from the New York City humidity. ‘All I have to do is make it to July blah-blah-blah’, you whispered to yourself while counting down the days until your passport gets stamped. Congrats. You made it! The evening itinerary includes a reservation at the restaurant you’ve been dying to try before you even booked your flight, followed by dancing until the sun comes up. Walk home barefoot, smoke a cheeky cigarette…for the next 12 hours life is your beach and nobody can judge you.
An ideal holiday suitcase is filled with uncomplicated and elegant staples: a few linen dresses, a comfortable heel that goes with everything and a great pair of statement earrings. But, even the most sophisticated packers know that nights like this are often memorialized by a look. Typically a dress as fabulous as whatever slice of paradise you’re visiting, that will more than likely never be worn again. Practical? Not at all. But, life is short and so is your vacation.
Here’s a few ensembles currently living rent free in my head that would be perfect for any big night out in the most magical places around the world.
Bon Voyage!
